11/15/2007

  • Update for new Gmail.

04/19/2007

  • New look of Gmail filter Script!
  • Now GFA is mail specific, i.e., each email in a conversation will have its own GFA link, see the following screenshot.

Many thanks to Bernice Freas and Jörg Menke for testing the script.

  • Some users complained that the update link didn't work for them. So I did modification to point the link to the script homepage instead of the script itself.

  • Small bug on escaped character fixed. thanks, Richard

It seems the special characters used in the filter criteria and labels cause a lot of trouble :P Some characters have been handled correctly in the latest version. I will do a systematic research on this issue and make a patch soon.

  • [08:27pm CST] A link is added to the "More actions..." menu. And an option of "Hide navigation tag" is provided in GFA "More Actions.." menu. See below. The asterisk before the menu item means it's effective. By selecting this item, the yellow navigation tag will be totally hidden, thus totally non-distractive.. :)

  • [04:55pm CST] New look of the small tag, and "Cancel" button

  • Some people complained that the yellow tag was too distractive :). Though I don't think so, I still changed the look of the tag to make it less distractive.
A "Cancel" button is added. Clicking it will remove the form.
  • [02:24pm CST] One more update. Interference between more than one accounts is solved.
  • [02:20pm CST] v0.15 released. Support to Google App for Your Domain mail account is added.

One thing that must be noticed is that if you are using normal Gmail account and App for your domain account at the same time, GFA operations in one of them may fail.
  • Multi-language bug fixed

04/09/2007
  • NOTE: Gmail users using language other than English and Simplified Chinese may have difficulty to run an old version of the script correctly. Just upgrade to the latest version to solve the problem.
  • Number of installation reaches 5000
  • Small typo corrected :). thanks, Bernice.
  • Small bug on escaped character fixed. thanks, Murray.
  • Gmail Filter Assistant is featured today on LifeHacker as "Download of the Day"!. thanks, Jörg, for sharing the news
  • v0.14 released. Fixed a bug that may cause frequent failure of filter operations. Please relogin your gmail account after installation.

  • v0.13 released. Multi-language support added. Current languages: English, Simplified Chinese.

  • v0.12 release to fix the autoupdate bug for firefox 1.5.
NOTE: users with slow connection may see delay of the appearance of "Filter Assistant" tag, but that happen only once daily.
  • The autoupdate seems not working well with Firefox 1.5. I will put the notification into the floating bar

  • IMPORTANT: Backuping data format has been changed, please backup your data again! Sorry for the inconvenience.
  • Version 0.11 released
  • Restoring filter data is done. Because restoring filters will automatically create the labels they use, I am considering ignore label restoring feature.

Backup/Restore is especially useful when you try to copy your filter and label setting to another Gmail account.

  • Alerts are replaced by floating message bar

  • Filter&Label backup is added, restore is in progress

  • Removed some redundant code
  • Subject auto-filled
  • Add auto update function (based on LookItUp script <http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7715>, thanks, Bjorn Rosell)

  • BUG: FilterAsst link displayed in draft composition page. FIXED
  • BUG: after adding new label, the workspace is refreshed, and all previous change is lost. FIXED
